These are slightly larger 2-person tents with double doors that are well worth it for some backpackers traveling in groups. This 2+ tent we rent is typically a custom-designed-for-us from BigSky International.

This is a great tent to rent for two backpackers that want more room than offered by two solo tents or our "regular" two-person tent, or can be used by 2 backpackers and a tiny being that want to save money and travel light - but it will be real cozy. Also great for tall guys considering it is nearly 8' long inside. It is double-walled - the ventilated tent body as shown in the picture, plus a waterproof cover ("the fly") that goes over it. It is also free-standing (no stakes needed and can be moved around if need be) which can be helpful in real rocky areas. Doors on each side keep fellow campers from stepping on each other on the way in or out. If you are car camping, there's no need to pay the extra cost for this tent; rent our 3-person car camping tent instead. The important inside specs include it being about 4.5' across at the head (slighlty narrower at the foot) and about 8' long. See more pics and setup instructions on this rental model.

This tent is rated as "Three-Season", but with aerodynamic design and low profile should protect you just fine even in high, cold winds if the fly cover is used and you use the provided stakes. Heavy snows could be a problem if allowed to stack up on top. If you find yourself in a heavy snow one night, you should get up every now and then and brush it off. A few inches shouldn't hurt it. This tent has a third support pole that makes it stronger that our other 3-season tents, but for more protection against high alpine winds and/or heavier snow, rent a true 4-season tent.
