Learn About Motorized Kayak Options
Kayaks have always been an efficient means of travel on the water, but they have come a long way from the simpler models of the recent past.  Pedal-drive options arrived about 20 years ago, and more recently, a variety of motorized options have hit the market.  Some kayaks are designed from the get-go to have an integrated electric-powered motor, and many models can be easily outfitted with a motor.  Great for getting to your fishing spot without wearing yourself out, or for anyone with limited strength, or interest, in paddling.

If you are ready to take that next step up into powered kayaks, we have several solutions at our stores in Tempe and Lake Havasu to get you going.

Old Town has several different models with integrated motors built into their design, such as the AutoPilot 136.   MinnKota is a sister company of Old Town, so they use their motors of course in the integrations, and it all works together smoothly, at a reasonable price.  Jonny Boat is another integrated option we sell - much lower price point but nicely put together for easy propulsion through the water.

If you already have a sit-on-top kayak, traditional paddle or pedal style, we sell an add-on motor from Newport Vessels that works with many brands and models on the market.  Stern mounted and can be installed with rudder lines for direct steering or locked in place to keep using your kayak's original rudder setup.

Whether using an integrated or added-on motor, you'll need battery power to move on down the water.  Find a wide range of Dakota lightweight lithium batteries at our stores to meet any motor-power or kayak lighting need.

We do install work on any brand, so just give us a call for more information.  And yes, we have plenty of traditional paddle style kayak options as well!
