How this works...

The weight of the world is literally on your shoulders when you hoist up your child, so make it a comfortable, safe ride - for both you and the kid - when you rent one our backpack/child carriers.

This Poco model from Osprey Packs we rent is designed for kids ranging in age from about 6 months to 5 years - from old enough to hold themselves upright to about 40 pounds. This carrier includes hip and torso adjustments designed to fit virtually any adult doing the carrying, and also features additional cargo space for baby and hiking extras. Perfect for around-town sight-seeing trips on vacation or for camping trips on not-too-treacherous trails in the wilderness, this carrier allows you take your child with you to places you wouldn't otherwise think of trying. While the carrier will hold your child safely, make sure you have the strength and mindset to safely carry the carrier! Check this out for some photos and setup/usage instructions for the rented child carrier.

The functional features of this child carrier rental set it apart from the competition: super-strong construction at a relatively lightweight 6 pounds; handy pockets; excellent suspension system; and many safety features. Its overall size is roughly 27" x 13" x 12", which means it takes a big box to ship it. Frankly, this item is best rented by pickup from our store, but we can ship it if you want - it's just fairly expensive due to the size. Click on the "User Guide" link you see below for more information.

To protect your young one from the elements, apply sun screen or add on a big ol' hat. Or, there is an optional sunshade you can add to your rental for $5 if you want. Just select it from the drop-down box.

We also have a series of videos about backpacks. Or just give us a call to ask any questions about the best backpack for your needs.

Note - this item has a huge high-volume-to-weight ratio - that is, it may be light, but it eats up a lot of box space. Shipments including this item requires a bigger box that is subject to a rate surcharge by the carrier, so the effective shipping weight calculated at checkout is higher than the actual weight.
