Acadia offers several developed campgrounds including Blackwoods, Seawall, and Schoodic Woods. Blackwoods Campground provides access to popular coastal trailheads, while Seawall offers a quieter setting along the western shoreline. Schoodic Woods, located on the Schoodic Peninsula, features wooded campsites near scenic biking and hiking routes. Reservations are typically required during peak summer months.
Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic coast, is accessible by both trail and road and offers expansive views of surrounding islands. The Beehive Trail and Precipice Trail provide steep, ladder-assisted routes suited for experienced hikers. For a less technical option, the Ocean Path follows the coastline between Sand Beach and Otter Point.
Weather along the Maine coast can change quickly. Fog, wind, and cool evenings are common even in summer. Layered clothing, weather-resistant shelter, and appropriately rated sleeping gear are important for comfort in shoulder seasons.
Select your rental gear online and choose dates that allow enough time for shipping to your home, hotel, or another convenient delivery location. Rental days are not charged while gear is in transit. See the video below for additional shipping details.
