Here’s some information you may find useful before your trip (sourced from Wikipedia and other research):

Seaquest State Park is a public recreation area located on the western flank of Silver Lake in Cowlitz County, Washington. The 505-acre state park is home to the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center, which offers displays on the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption of 1980. Mount St. Helens itself is 30 miles east of the park. Park activities include camping, seven miles of hiking trails, picnicking, bird watching, and horseshoes. The park has a mile-long shoreline on Silver Lake, a shallow lowland lake with wetlands trail and boardwalk, boat launch, and fishing.

If you are a first-time camper, an overnight trip into Seaquest State Park is a great way to get started – it’s probably close by, and the staff is used to advising families out on their first trip. We make it easy to rent gear as well if you are aren’t sure what to take – check out our camping gear packages for easy shopping. Just add food and water!

A pedestrian tunnel connects lush, forested Seaquest State Park with its more well-known neighbor across the road, the Silver Lake Mount St. Helens Visitor Center. The park makes a topnotch base for an exploration of the famous Washington volcano. The visitor center is a destination unto itself. Ranger talks, documentary film showings, naturalist-led hikes, and interpretive exhibits bring to life the mountain's geology and history. It's a tour through time, from prehistory to the earth-altering 1980 explosion and the area's recovery.
