Here’s some information you may find useful before your trip (sourced from Wikipedia and other research):

Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is a 320-acre Washington state park on the Green River in King County. The park has 2 miles of river shoreline and offers picnicking, camping, 3 miles of trails for hiking and biking, expert-level rafting and kayaking in the Green River Gorge, fishing, swimming, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and horseshoes. As it tumbles toward the mouth of a sandstone gorge, the Green River serves up some of the region's best rapids for rafting and kayaking. Graded Class II to Class IV, this frothy whitewater isn't for everyone; only experts are encouraged to run through the Green River Gorge.

If you are a first-time camper, an overnight trip into Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is a great way to get started – it’s probably close by, and the staff is used to advising families out on their first trip. We make it easy to rent gear as well if you are aren’t sure what to take – check out our camping gear packages for easy shopping. Just add food and water!

You can find many ways to experience the aquamarine waters without steering through currents, however. Activities include trout fishing, rock hopping and wading in the placid pools and eddies. Maybe you'll see your friend or family member speed by in a kayak. Kids and contemplative hikers can stroll down the sun-dappled trails, identifying hemlock, cottonwood, alder, spruce and cedar and looking for birds and forest animals. Though Kanaskat-Palmer is popular with locals and whitewater fans, overnighters can make a leisurely dinner, roll into a tent, RV or yurt, and leave the driving for another day.
