Headed to Everest, taking the kitchen sink somewhere, or just want to see what it's like to carry the Land Rover of backpacks? Then these are the packs you are looking for.
These are huge packs, capable of carrying 60 pounds and up with minimal strain. That's little strain on the pack; but it is a lot of weight for an average-sized backpacker to bear regardless of the relative comfort of the pack. The specific packs we offer are the Gregory Denali Pro and the Deuter Air Contact Pro. Both are well-respected, high-end packs that will make you the envy of mere mortals. The capacity ratings are about 105 liters for the Denali; about 85 for the Deuter. Both are pushing 7 pounds. If you have a preference of a model, you can specify in the Comments Box of the shopping cart; otherwise we send what we have available. You won't be disappointed either way, however, most small guys and most women would find these packs too big.

These packs have a lot of comfortable padding, and lots of bells and whistles commensurate with their cost. The Denali cost north of $500 at retail for example. For fewer frills, lighter weight, and less cost, also consider renting a standard high-capacity pack instead.

Note - this item has a high volume-to-weight ratio - that is, it may be light, but it eats up a lot of box space. Shipments including this item often require a bigger box and is subject to a rate surcharge by UPS, so the effective shipping weight calculated at checkout is higher than the actual weight. See the actual product weight above.
